Q: nissan sentra?
I need some suggestions pls

i plan to buy a used 2002 nissan sentra with 61k miles, pls let me know after a year will this sentra hold a decent resale value(sold off easily n at decent kbb price)..considering clean history n condition remains ok?

Thanks

A: Should be fine as long as you don’t overpay for it, drive an insane amount of miles, or neglect it.
It is 6 years old, so most of the depreciation is gone.

Q: Nissan Sentra?
I’m looking to buy a older Nissan Sentra for commuting. I’m looking at a 94 2dr. model with the 1.6 engine and automatic transmission. The car has only 84k miles and it said to be in good condition. The owner has kept all records for service over the years. I have not seen the car yet; seing it tomorrow. Asking $2200 for it. Does anyone have experiences with this car? How is it? Nice car for the money? What to look for when I go to look and drive it?

A: I had a Sentra ‘94. It was an amazing car. I paid for it around 5000 in 1998 so the price seems right or a little bit overpriced. It depends on the condition. It is a really good car. I sold it in 2003 and the car was working as the first day. Check the transmission and the acceleration.

Q: Nissan sentra?
would u buy a used 2002 nissan sentra…considering clean history and driven 15K miles per year?does sentra have a decent resale value?

A: Just remember your buying the lowest price Automobile Nissan Sold in 2002. Buying a 6 year old car with 90,000 miles for around $5,000 and expecting resale value i think not. I would aim higher and get an Altima or Maxima money better spent better car.

Q: How long is a Nissan Sentra supposed to last after its radiator is changed?
I am trying to buy a Nissan Sentra buit title because its radiator fell apart while in a high curve. I was wondering before i buy it how long is it expected to last. The car currently has about 79,000 miles and it’s a 2007. Please, somebody that knows aobut cars tell me something about it and some other tips as well. Thanks.

A: buit title because its radiator fell apart in a high curve? I don’t know what your asking. MR-2.0 liter Sentra motors do not like sludge and oil must be changed at regular intervals. Rebuilt Title means the car was totaled in a crash the radiator just does not fall apart. In a crash the front end gets smashed back into the motor. CAR FAX costs a little following up with the vin# and asking a Nissan Dealer if they can run the warranty repair history. If the car has never seen a dealership be very suspicious. 79,000 miles in less than 3 years means this car was used and driven a lot of miles each year. If the engine has been overheated abused you may not know right away. I would walk away unless this car is very cheep.

Q: How does the Nissan Sentra use one bulb for high and low beams?
I have a 2006 Nissan Sentra 1.8 Special Edition.
Also do you know how good the sylvania silverstar headlights are?
Thanks

A: there are two seprate filaments one for loe, the other for high. Sylvania silverstars are reallly nice, I have them in my car. The light they produce is ultra white, there is no yellowish hue in the light like regular bulbs.

Q: How to remove Buckets Seats in Nissan Sentra and install a different type of seat?
So I have a Nissan Sentra and I cannot stand the bucket seats in it. I know I know, why would I ever want to change the seats? They annoy me lol.

Can someone tell me if I can actually go about and change the seats and get some new ones installed and how much it would cost for them?

A: You can buy seats for about $225 each from Jegs, for some decent bucket seats.

You either need adapter brackets, or to reinforce your floor and drill new holes to mount the seat. You’ll need to peel the carpet back if this is the case, to weld in the reinforcement.

Figure about $300-500 to have a shop do the installation by drilling the floor, or about $150 for an adapter (if one exists), or about $250 to have an adapter made by a metal fab shop.

Q: How much would you pay for a 2007 Nissan Sentra with a reconstructed title?
I am interested in buying a 2007 Nissan Sentra that is for sale by owner. Owner says they replaced the front bumper and one head light. It has 40k miles on it and they are asking $7500. How much do you think this car is worth?

A: Please only if you can have the car checked out at a good body shop. Do not buy a car with a salvaged title or reconstructed title because you will not be able to recoup your money should it get wrecked again. 7,500 is half of what that Sentra sold for new. So there is no real bargan in a 3 year old wrecked used car for that price. Actually the hood both headlights radatior core support was straightened and A/c still does not work and there may be hidden dammage. BUYER BEWARE and just who could you go to to get your money back?

Q: What are the steps to replacing a 2005 Nissan Sentra fuel pressure regulator?
I need step-by-step instructions to replacing a fuel pressure regulator for an ‘05 Nissan Sentra. The dealership wants $400 to replace it; however, I am mechanically inclined and like to to as much mechanical work myself. So I am looking to find out if this task is within my skills.

A: Step #1 – Make sure the fuel tank is as empty as you can get it by siphoning the fuel out into a container

Step #2 – Relieve fuel pressure by removing fuel pump relay from power distribution box and then crank the engine over for about 10-20 seconds. Fuel pump relay should be labeled

Step #3 – Remove fuel tank straps, drop tank down enough to gain access to fuel lines and electrical connections. Disco everything hooked to the fuel tank and remove tank from car

Step #4 – Remove fuel pump module from fuel tank, change fuel pressure regulator and reinstall

Step #5 – Installation is reverse of removal

This task is moderately difficult, but if you have a floor jack and an assortment of common tools you should be fine.

Q: How can I unlock my nissan sentra without a key?
I locked my keys in my car last night and I don’t really have any money to call AAA or a locksmith. I have a 2005 Nissan Sentra. Is there any other way I can unlock it?

A: I gently pull back on the back top corner of the passengers side door frame insert my wallet that 1/4 inch will give you room to use a 1/8″ metal rod approx 3 feet long with a 90 degree bend on one end about a inch bent to hook the door lock and pull backward. Strong fence wire like top wire of chain link fence. But not your car antenna it looks funny when you bend the end and is just about 4 or 5 inches to short. Passengers side should you tear the rubber your ear is not right there listening to the wind noise. Coat hanger might not be strong enough to pull back that lock… Good Luck

Q: When the 1991 nissan sentra was made was power steering already being put on all models of cars?
I just bought a 1991 nissan sentra. It doens’t have power steering and we can’t figure out where to install a pump or anything for power steering. Could it be possible it was never installed on the vehicle?

A: They did come with out power steering in base models. I once had a 2000 Chevy Metro that did not have it, I believe it was not on the metro to improve fuel economy as the pump uses horsepower to turn the pump.
If you are looking to install power steering on the Sentra you will need more components than the pump.

Q: How much should it cost to replace a 2001 Nissan Sentra expansion valve?
Is this even what I should be replacing? I have a 2001 Nissan Sentra that has under 85000 miles and as of this summer the AC has stopped working. Air still blows out, but it is not cool as the compressor is not turning on. If you open the hood and take a listen, you hear no difference from when the AC is on or not. Innitially, I tried using an AC charger kit and obviously that was not the problem. Then I thought that the compressor needed to be replaced, but I think it is much too early for that to go on the car. I brought it to a mechanic that specializes in foreign cars and he said that it was the expansion valve that needed to be replaced and that it would cost $440.00. I’ve found the part online for $40 – does labor really need to be that high?

A: Always get a second opinion, but it really could be that high. Depending on your location (hourly labor charges vary) the labor could be something like $65 and hour. On many cars this valve is located in the dashboard, in a box, connected to the a/c cooling lines.

So this basically means, taking the coolant out of the lines with a recovery machine, taking apart the dash (in the area around the glovebox) and taking the part out, replacement of the part, pumping the system down to a vacumn to get any air out, and then refilling the coolant.

This is a pretty intensive procedure, but I really cant figure out how the mechanic would determine that it was the expansion valve from what you wrote. If you tried a recharge kit, did you disconnect the battery for a while? There is a low pressure switch that keeps the compressor from starting, some of these have a memory. If you disconnect it the bat, and then try starting the a/c it should work for a minute, and then you might see if recharging makes a difference.

Q: How can I remove the headliner on a 96 nissan sentra to replace the upholstery?
The upholstery on my 1996 Nissan Sentra GXE has rotted and come off. I have found various articles on how to replace it, but none include how to actually remove the headliner in order to fix this. Can anyone help?

A: What really needs to be done is that you will need to remove your side post plastic interior panels. Interior lamp, door openings soft garnish moldings.
This should not take more than 1 1/2.
Just take your time.
Good luck

Q: I have a 2002 Nissan Sentra which is making the 2nd to 3rd gear transmission chirp?
I am having a problem with a 2002 Nissan Sentra. The car will chirp when the transmission changes from second to third. I have already taken it to the dealer, where they have put in the additive (as per the TSB) and a complete fluid change. This did not fix the problem, it still makes the noise. I can live with the chirping sound, but my question is will this problem cause the transmission to fail in the near future from anyones experience?

A: I have not seen any 2002 Sentras with the 2 to 3 chirp transmissions fail eariler than ones that did not chirp. The noise generally does not cause any extra wear just a noise. Most the time that occurs only under hard acceleration anyway.

Q: My nissan sentra jerks a little when accelerating in 3rd and 4th gear. Whats up with that?
My 2002 nissan sentra jerks a little when accelerating in 3rd and 4th gear. It jerks for a few seconds then runs smooth. If I floor the pedal it stops sooner. Seems like a fuel line problem to me but not sure.

A: Hold 2nd gear longer. If its the 4cyl model, you aren’t pulling enough RPM for the higher gears.
When you mash the “GO!” pedal, you, 1 accelerate faster, 2 generate more load on the trans and engine, 3 reach the desires RPM faster.

If that doesn’t fix it, run a diagnostic on the computer. Not all problems will trip the SES(service engine soon) light.
You might have a TPS relay problem or the MAF sensor is “pegging” (running too rich) and can’t work fast enough to bring in the required air

Q: Where can i buy Nissan Sentra 2003 car seat leather cover?
I have Nissan sentra 2003 XE. I am looking for leather seat cover. I need both front bucket seat and rear bench seat. Where can I buy full leather seat cover or any auto dealers are doing this? Thanks in advance for your answers.

A: Look UP Katzkin. There the best fitting all you will need is a trim shop that can build up the driver seat foam padding and change out the leather covers.
