A: I don’t think it is chick car but it not a man’s man car by any stretch. It is actually unisex, nicely shape, luxurious not very sporty. I happen to like the RX also. It is more like a family station wagon on stilts kind of car. Great if your a married lawyer with kids. Also great if you would not be caught dead in a van. It is obviously an SUV but if you want a more manly ride go for one of the larger lexus/toyota suv models or the Toyota FJ or a truck. Otherwise I don’t think its on the list of gay men’s cars. The VWgetta, civic and toyota solara are probably still on it i think.

PS. I happen to drive a GS it is big and luxurious and not real sporty but it is a man car because it is my car.

A: i dont know much about this car but if you want something that speed and four door then get the infitini g37 or a dodge charger rt. these 4 DOOR AUTOMATICS own cars. they are fast and all for about 30-35k. this way you can spend the rest of the money making it look good or tuning them up to go faster than ever. trust me these cars are cool

Q: How to fix Lexus RX 300 multi disc changer?
I have a Lexus RX 300 and the multi disc changer in the glove box just now recently stopped working. When I try to play a CD it just clicks repeatedly and nothing plays. Also, not all CD’s are recognized. The CD’s are all in fine condition so i’m sure that isn’t my problem.

Does anybody have any similar experience or DIY knowledge on how I can go about fixing this? I couldn’t find anything on the popular Lexus forums but maybe that’s just me. Thanks.

A: If by chance you dropped the unit that might be the problem,if not then you have a unit that has just suffered from wear and tear, the only fix would either be to refurbish it or to replace the unit, Lexus would more than likely replace it for you and give you the part, but that repair would NOT be cheap.

Q: How long do the Lexus RX 300 models last?
I’m looking to purchase a 200 lexus RX and I’m wondering what the average life span is on them? Is 160,000 miles on a 2000 too much? How much longer can I expect that car to run? Thanks!!

A: Personally that’s alot of miles to be gettting into. I have a friend that has one with 229 on it and it’s still going strong. Any car’s reliability depends on when and how it was taken care of. If it was one owner and they religiously maintained it i’d probably buy it. If your not sure you can always shell out $100 and take it to a local mechanic and have him look it over. It’s better to invest $100 to get a professionals advice then to waste another $3K on a car with 160K. Good luck!

Q: What is the difference between Lexus RX 330, Lexus RX 300, Lexus RX 350, and Lexus RX 400?
I am looking for a car… basicly Lexus with the following models and Im not sure what the difference is in them, besides the number in the title. Which is the safest? Newest? Who has a Lexus RX & do you like it? PLease Help.

A: The difference between the RX 330, 300, 350, and 400h is engine size. The numbers signify how big the engine is. Take, for example, the 350. Move the decimal to the left two places and that’s how big the engine is (3.5 liters). Same as the 330 (3.3 liters) and the 300 (3.0 liters). They try to trick you with the 400h, though. If you see a Lexus with an ‘h’ after the letters, that isn’t the actual size of the engine. The RX 400h isn’t a 4.0 liter, but it’s comparable to a 4.0 liter. The gasoline engine is 3.5 liters and the electric engine is 0.5 liters that come together to make a total of 4.0 liters. As the years go on, the numbers increase.

From 1999 – 2003, the RX was a 300. Then in 2004, they redesigned the RX and replaced the 3.0 liter engine with a 3.3 liter engine and then called it RX 330. Then Lexus thought that the RX needed more power so they upgraded the engine to a 3.5 liter (RX 350). They also added a hybrid to the line in 2006 and called it the RX 400h.

The safest RX out there is the newest RX. Generally cars get more and more safe as they get older. The RX 300 is safe, but the RX 330, 350, and 400h have more safety features in them.

The newest RX is the RX 350 and 400h.

A: they have one hidden one. you can buy a tuning kit or something if you want to show the exhausts.

Q: Can I get a GPS installed into my 2001 Lexus RX?
My 2001 Lexus RX does not have a GPS…I was wondering if it is possible to have one added into the screen. I have seen others like this.

A: If your vehicle was not equipped from the factory it wont work. The after market ones listed by others above wont work either. The Radio, and heater controls are linked in the LCD screen that you have. Removing that to install a aftermarket one would eliminate the heater controls. Get a windshield mount GPS like garmin, tomtom or Magellan and use that. It is much cheaper.

I have had no luck find it besides at the Lexus dealership. Like everyone else though I do want to find something cheaper. So if you know of any places where i could find the parts please do help. If possible somewhere in Seattle Washington area close by states will do as well.

A: look for the new 2010 RX in mid 2009 (RX’s new models usually come out in feburary..) I dont know why.. but i highly doubt that with a new release.. Wait a year or so…

I called the Lexus dealership and they said that i needed to have one installed when it came from the factory, otherwise there is no way for them to install one because they are not permitted to. I was wondering if anyone knows a way to install it, a company somewhere?

No, you cannot get a factory nav system installed after the fact.

What you can do – you can get an aftermarket system installed, which will probably also replace your factory stereo. Any electronics installer can do this. Examples here:

Or – you can just buy a portable, suction cup it to the windshield, plug it into the cigarrette lighter and call it good.

Q: How would you convert a speedometer on a Lexus RX 330 and an IS 250 from mileage to kilometers?
We have an opportunity to drive two US Lexus vehicles that have speedometers in miles, in Canada. Are we able to convert the speedo’s to kilometers (easily and cheaply)? Is it possible to change a chip to convert the electronic mileage readout to kilometers?

A: there SHOULD be a button on the display controls that will switch the readout from miles to km. If not, take it to a dealer and they should be able to help you for a decent price.
