Q: Jeep Wrangler?
I really want to get a Jeep Wrangler as my first car. but ive heard a lot thats it’s not a very good car and its terrible maintenance-wise. is that true????
A: I have owned 5 Jeeps over my life and I have to tell you that I wouldn’t own anything else if I could help it. My last wrangler I owned for 10 years and put over 200,000 hard miles on it. (I like to wheel and go to moab often) the key to the longevity of my Jeep was that I took care of it and performed all the maintenance regularly. Right now I own a 95 grand cherokee and have had it for nearly 6 years and it has been an amazing vehicle.
There are years where jeep built a better jeep than others. I would say any wrangler 93 or newer with fuel injection will be a better jeep than a wrangler than one that is older and carburated.
Basically if you buy a new jeep and take care of it, it will last as long as you want. If you buy a used jeep take your time and pick one that looks like it has been taken care of, or what I did was since my wrangler had such high miles I had a maintenance log that showed that I took care of it.

How are the new jeep wranglers 07-09 alike and different from the older jeep wranglers 97–06
A: The new Jeeps have a 4-door option which the old ones don’t. The new ones also get better mpg compared to the old ones and also the old ones have the I-4 which has no power. People who usually own an older jeep take more pride in their rig compared to the new owners. If you are looking for after-market things, I found out that the newer Jeeps have products cheaper than TJ’s. For looks, I think the older models look way better than the new ones and who really goes off-roading in a 4-door Jeep? SWB Jeeps can go through pretty much anything while a 4-door jeep has a higher chance of bottoming out.
Q: 1988 Jeep Wrangler shuts down when key is released from start position?
I have an 88 Jeep Wrangler. When the key is turned into the start position the engine will start. As soon as the key is released into the on position the engine will shut down. Electrical power is still available. It will stay running as long as the key remains in the start position. Could this be the ignition module?
I have tried swapping the ignition on the steering column with no luck. Is there another ignition switch in the system?
A: Turn ign to on. Check with test light for power at the ign switch terminal that feeds ignition. Sounds as if no power getting to ignition system.
Q: Can a jeep wrangler run 35 inch tires with the stock gears?
I’m putting 35×12.50 mud tires on my 2002 wrangler. Does it need to be regeared to push the larger tires? The jeep is a 5 speed with a 4.0L inline 6 motor.
A: Sure you can if you wish for your Jeep not to be able to get out of it’s own way.

I currently live in the US and I own a Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I plan to move to the Philippines in a year or two and would love to bring it with me. However, from my research, I’ve found that shipping and 100% tariffs would make this impossible. 
So, how much money (in PhP or US$) would it take to buy a new one in the Philippines? Or, could you suggest a good substitute 4X4?

A: you might get an idea from this site. it has secondhand ones for sale. one good thing is that gas is cheap .a negative is that genuine parts are hard to come by. the value of the doller against the peso has virtually halved in recent years………….hope it comes back up by the time u travel……………….mostly people in the phillipines drive second hand japanese imports……….even similar models to the jeep 4×4 . there isa good supply of parts. probably ur best option would be to sell ur jeep and condider buyinga toyota or mitsubishi when u arrive. they really do last.

A: well is depends on your credit scrore. and the model , year , style of the jeep that you’re gonna drive on . call around the insurance company and ask for a quote .. they will be happy to give it to you . i would recommend that you should go under your parent policy. being a new driver is so expensive to get insurance . almost cost you a monthly car payment . my guess is around $130 and up per month just for liability only . good luck

Q: What transmission is better for a Jeep Wrangler, Automatic or Manual?
I see hardcore offroad Jeeps (big lift, big tires, etc.) that have automatin transmissions, but all I here from my friends is that a manual transmission is way better. Can someone please help me or give me some insight on the pros and cons of these two transmissions for the Jeep Wrangler.
A: I have a 1989 Wrangler with an auto and a 2001 with a manual,I like the auto when 4wheelin.When 4wheelin with an auto you can focus more on the road and you don’t lose any momentum when shifting.I like the manual for driving around town,I know that this is different from most other people so I guess it is just a personal choice.

I am considering buying a Jeep Wrangler for my next car and am worried that engine parts or valuables could be taken due to the ease of opening a Wrangler engine cover. Are there ways to prevent this from happening?

I plan on getting an ‘86 to ‘89 jeep wrangler for my first car and I would like to get it murdered (all black, tinted, and wheels black). I like the powder coat color like Rob’s car on Rob and Big. A: You can listen to these “experts” on this site or you can read the tire fit info info I provided for you down below. If you over-stuff your wheel wells you WILL rub while 4 wheeling. The idea is to not rub while wheel’n. You can also rub simply by turning while driving.

Q: Can a transmission from a 1994 Jeep Cherokee be transfered to a 1994 Jeep Wrangler?
The transmission on my 1994 jeep wrangler is going out. To buy a new transmission is really expense but a friend of mine has a good transmission from a 1994 jeep cherokee that i can buy for cheap. Will the transmission from the cherokee work for my wrangler, they both are automatic and have a 6-cyl 4.0 liter engine.
A: Not as just a bolt up and go thing. The problem is that the 94 Wrangler came with a TF999 transmission while the 94 Cherokee came with the AW4. They have different input shaft lengths and are dimensionally different. The second problem comes from the transfer case. The 94 Wrangler only came with the NP231. The 94 Cherokee came with either the NP231 or the NP242. If you have the time, you could make it work but it is not going to be easy.
