Q: Is the owner’s manual for the Dodge Grand Caravan the same as the caravan?
One place I called said they’re the same, another place said they are different. The only manual I can find on ebay seems to say “Dodge Caravan”. Nothing that I can find says “Grand” in the picture of the manual. I bought a used one and it didn’t come w/ a manual.

A: their basically the same, the grand is just got more options on it but the options are listed in the manual the same way,it will work fine with your van,as long as its the same years you need it for, good luck.

Q: What makes the 05 Dodge Grand Caravan SE different?
Specifically how would it differ from a 05 Dodge Grand Caravan. I don’t understand all the letter combos at the end of each vehicle, but I understand they are a specific line and is suppose to mean something to someone.
Anyone out there with experience selling these and would know?
The specific one I’m looking at I know has a 3.3L V6 engine, the stow & go option and quad seats. But I’ve seen those things on other vehicles that lack the SE letters at the end.

A: the se is just a special edition package,it came with rear heat and air and most of the time a towing package also, the se just tells you the level of the trim package it has on it,not all se,s that i have seen though have the same trim levels because these days you can order one with the se trim package and add to it what you want from other trim levels on other models, the ones that lack the se or the other letters are usually base model vehicles, with limited options on them, good luck.

Q: Why does the fuel pump on a 93 dodge grand caravan keep failing?
My dad has a 1993 dodge grand caravan 3.3 liter we have replace the filter and the pump twice now. Once with an Airtex pump and once with a carter pump but both failed very quickly. The Airtex failed within in 3 weeks, the carter failed in about 3 months. I was just wondering if anything else could be causing this we cleaned the tank out very well and checked the lines. I would appreciate the help.

A: i been through the same thing on one,a bad ground wire will cause it to fail because it works off constant variable voltage, and if the ground fails it cuts the flow rate down and also reduces the amount of voltage applied to it,once this happens the pump either over heats because it cant get enough voltage or it damages the relay unit,it would be better and cheaper if it would burn the relays out ,but it wont always do that, it gets the pump instead of the relay unit, try checking the ground wire real good on it and use a good pump, and verify that the voltage supply is correct to it when the key is switched off and on,if its low recheck the ground again, bad ground wires is the most common cause of pump failure and replacing pumps can be really expensive after a while, good luck on it,if you need more help with it i,ll be around sometime, good luck.

Q: Why is my 2002 dodge grand caravan leaking oil?
My 2002 Dodge Grand Caravan es is leaking oil. Does anyone know why and how much it might cost to fix? My Husband already changed the screw for the oil pan.

A: you really need to locate the leak first ,try wiping it off and see if you can see where its coming from, an oil leak on one of those vans can cost anywhere from 100 bucks to repair all the way up to 5-600 depending on where its leaking from,if you lay something under it and can determine where its coming from then we can help you with it,if its a rear main seal and the transmission has to be pulled out that can easily cost around 5-600 to get repaired,so locating the exact point of it is real important, good luck.

Q: Is it easy to change a belt tensioner on a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan?
Every time I drive in the rain, my S-belt keeps on slipping out. I always have to put it back on, so I got a new S-belt and it still slips out whenever I drive in the rain. Does that mean that I have to change the belt tensioner and is it easy to do for a 2000 Dodge Grand Caravan? Any advice will help. Thank you in advance.

A: Yes change the belt tensioner before you junk another belt…..easy job, take the bolt out of the center of the tensioner, should come off at this time, align peg of new tensioner with hole, replace bolt, put breaker bar or ratchet in square hole and put the new belt on…

if you need parts go to www.partsamerica.com

Q: How do you take the serpentine belt off of a 1994 Dodge Grand Caravan?
I have a 1994 Dodge Grand Caravan SE with a 3.3 liter V6 engine. I am replacing the alternator which just died and also the serpentine belt which is cracking. My current issue is with getting the serpentine belt off. I know there’s a tensioner pulley but I have no idea which one it is. Any tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

A: If you do your own work, go get yourself a manual, it will take you step by step (and with pictures) so that you will be able to find it, and do the job without breaking anything! “Haynes Auto Repair” manuals are as good as they come, – and cost about $20 or less at lots of auto parts stores (I buy mine at AutoZone)! Get a book for your year and model – it tells you how to do everything except rebuild transmission! I’ve only been at it for a little over 55 years, but I buy a manual that covers every car I get, – it saves me time and money (and possibly breaking things)!

Check and see how your timing belt is too,– breaking one is not “convenient”!

Q: Where is the transmission controller located on a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan?

A: Disconnect battery negative cable.
Raise vehicle on hoist.
Remove left front tire/wheel assembly.
Pull back splash shield to gain access to TCM location.
Disconnect TCM 60-way connector (Transmission Control Module 60-way Connector).
Remove three (3) TCM-to-rail screws and remove TCM from vehicle

Q: how much to repair a rear main seal on a dodge grand caravan 01?
I have a dodge grand caravan 01 and the rear main seal needs replaced. How much is the average cost for that? And should anything else be replaced along with it?

A: they have to pull the transmission to do that job so they should replace the front seal in the transmission also, average cost on doing that is around 400-450,i charge 450 but that’s counting parts and labor,im sure most shops will match this price, good luck.

Q: how much does a wiring harness for a 2002 dodge grand caravan sport cost?
a friend of mine has a 2002 dodge grand caravan sport and the mechanic told him the part cost about $400. is that right?
the mechanic told my friend that parts of it had melted somehow.
he didnt buy the car without a wiring harness lol. it came with one.

A: a full wiring harness?

that wouldn’t quite fall into the realm of normal repair at all

why does he need this?

Q: What motor oil should I use for my 1997 dodge grand caravan?
It’s a 1997 Dodge Grand Caravan 3.0L V6. It has 177,000 miles on it. I have a bottle of SAE 10W-30 sitting in the garage…. what grade oil should I use? I just got an oil change not long ago and want to top it off because I’m getting clicking/rattling noises from the engine.

A: Any name brand 10W30 motor oil.

Many of the major oil companies will sell “High Mileage” motor oil. This oil is formulated for high mileage engines like yours. It has additives to help recondition seals to reduce oil consumption. It als has extra detergents to prevent sludge.

Q: What model year engines will fit in a 1994 Dodge Grand Caravan?
I have a 1994 Dodge Grand Caravan that I am replacing the engine in and was wondering what year of engines will fit this van.

A: anything up to a 95 model without doing a lot of changing on it,you can go newer but you got to go with a newer computer to match the newer engine and sensors, and wiring harness,in 96 they all went to the obd-2 system which changed a lot of the sensors around, good luck

Q: How can I use a newer Dodge radio in my 2001 Grand Caravan?
Hello… I have a 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan and I would like to upgrade my radio to a newer factory unit with more features. I am aware that 2001 dodge radios use a different connection that 2002 and up radios (which have the 22 pin connection). Is it possible to convert or rewire my van to use a newer factory radio?

Thanks

A: yes it is ,just go to this web site and down load the wiring diagram on the newer model radio that you want to use in it and also get wiring diagram for the older one and it will tell you which wires to use on it,done it before and they work good ,good luck http://installdoctor.com

Q: 1999 Dodge Grand Caravan power locks keep locking and the interior lights quit working.?
1999 Dodge Grand Caravan power locks keep locking and the interior dome lights int the front quit working. The battery has died twice now and when I start the car – when it does start – the lights on the ac/heat panel are blinking until the car runs for a while. Does anyone have any suggestions? I had the battery tested for it is still under warranty and was told it was still good.
Sorry, it’s a 1998 not 1999.

A: it sounds like you have a bad door jam switch on it ,check to see if it has a dead draw on the battery this can cause whats happening to it,if so replace the door jam switch,if that’s what it turns out to be good luck.

Q: How can I fix my rear power windows on my 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan ES?
I just bought a used 2001 Dodge Grand Caravan ES and the problem I have with it is that the two rear windows will not open or close. I managed to get the one on the left open using the switch on the driver side door, but it will not close any more. And now I have to deal with it staying open.

A: well you know the one motor works cause it opened the thing. I’d guess the master switch on the driver door is bad.. try replacing it.

Q: I have a 1993 Dodge Grand Caravan with a 4 speed transmission?
93 Dodge Grand Caravan, i was driving it and all of a sudden it would not shift out of second gear, i parked it for 10 minutes and drove it again and it was shifting fine. Any answers for this problem.

A: Your Dodge has gone into ” limp-in” mode. Meaning that the trans. Computer has detected a fault in one of it’s monitered systems. To prevent additional ( or percieved) dammage the transmission may only operate in one forward gear and reverse. Once you turn off the ignition key the computer resets itself and again starts checking electrical and hydraulic circuits. Many things , both electrical, hydraulic ( mechanical, internal) ) can be the cause.
Check all external connections, check fluid level and condition. In order to retrieve transmission DTC’s you must connect a suitable code reader/ scanntool under the drivers side instrument panel.
A code and relitive data will be stored by the TCM.
